Day 6 – Buildings
The twelve days of Craft City is a series of articles made to explain the major functionalities of the game twelve days before the official launch. These articles are open to all and will still be available after the game’s release date.
The core of any local industries in the city resides in the different buildings a player creates into its neighborhood. Each building has its own purpose and will help greatly if placed appropriately.
The buildings are mainly divided into two main categories: Resources generators and Meta generators.
The resources generators are buildings that periodically generate resources for the player. For example, a mine will allow the player to gather minerals at a set interval of time. On the other hand, an assembly line will produce electronic parts. The major constraint of these buildings is that they must be placed on the right type of terrain to function properly. For example, a sawmill wouldn’t work in the middle of a desert.
The meta generators are buildings that increase one or multiple meta values of your neighborhood. For example, a storage unit gives you 100 more spaces to store resources and 5 additional storage spaces to store objects you craft. As opposed to the resources generators, the meta generators can be built on any free tile regardless of their environment. As long as they are connected to a road, there won’t be any problem. These constructions are a must to every neighborhood progression and must not be left aside.
Some buildings, like the upgraded factories, are complex and can only be built by skilled craftsmen who have mastered deeply enough the corresponding crafting tree. They are hard to build, but very rewarding in the end.
