Day 9 – World map

The twelve days of Craft City is a series of articles made to explain the major functionalities of the game twelve days before the official launch. These articles are open to all and will still be available after the game’s release date.

The city is huge, very huge. There are a lot of empty patches of land waiting to be filled by anyone brave enough to try to build a place where citizens can live. As players come in and register themselves to become mayors, new patches of land are added to the city. One of the main goals of the grand mayor of Craft City is to create the biggest and most populous virtual city the world has ever known.

The map is dynamically loaded when playing the game. That means players can navigate from one neighborhood to the next without loading screens or scene changes. It is possible to go from one end of the city to the other without interruption. The city initially starts with more than 500 available spots to play on and increases by one for every newcomer.

To ease the process of navigating to one neighborhood to the other, a world map tool is made available to players and spectators. This map enables quick access to every player and it also lets you save favorite locations into an address book for later. This is the best way to monitor a friend’s progression if he’s not near your territory.

With the city growing by itself with each new mayor, who knows how it’ll turn out in a year or two. I wonder if it may even be able to break a world record about the biggest virtual town? It would be amazing!

Stay tuned for the Day 10 – Rare find trader of the Twelve days of Craft City 🎄
